This has a strong vintage feel. It's a reproduction from a glass negative.
On February 22, 1913, former lightweight champion Ad Wolgast faced Harlem Tommy Murphy in a grueling 20-round bout at Daly City, California. Both fighters were well-known for their toughness and relentless styles, and the fight lived up to expectations. It was a hard-fought, evenly matched contest, with neither man able to establish clear dominance. Due to California’s no-decision rule, the fight went the distance without an official verdict, but contemporary newspaper accounts generally regarded it as a draw, with some slightly favoring Murphy. The bout highlighted Wolgast’s determination to regain his former glory and solidified Murphy’s reputation as a formidable contender in the lightweight division.
