Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter, known for his highly decorative and erotic works. He was a leading figure in the Vienna Secession movement, which sought to break away from traditional academic art and embrace new, more experimental approaches.

Klimt’s works often explore themes of sensuality, intimacy, and the human form.

Gustav Klimt’s Mäda Primavesi (1912–1913) is a vibrant and lively portrait of a young girl from a wealthy Viennese family. Mäda Primavesi, just nine years old at the time, stands confidently in a floral, flowing dress against a bright, decorative background filled with colorful patterns. Unlike many formal portraits of the time, Mäda's pose is relaxed and direct, capturing her youthful energy and strong personality. Klimt combines his love of ornate detail with a fresher, more playful style, moving slightly away from the heavy gold elements of his earlier works. Today, Mäda Primavesi is celebrated as a masterpiece of Klimt’s late portrait period.
